We’ve experienced two amazing luxurious and chic hotels on the idyllic island of Koh Samui in Thailand. Both situated on the northern part of the island. Lanna Samui and Code Samui provided the ultimate relaxation experience in a tranquil environment.
Our first two nights were spent at Lanna Samui. This hotel is located in Bo Phut, so near attractions such as The Big Buddha and the Fishermans Village – which has a fantastic Friday night walking street market!
The pool at Lanna is divine, and huge! It includes a few hydrotherapy beds, as well as plenty of sun lounges for all guests. There’s an undercover outdoor area which is perfect for those moments of a tropical downpour. Complimentary juices are brought to guests early in the afternoon! The pool is a central feature of the hotel with all rooms looking onto it. At night the area is beautifully lit up, so you can enjoy the view from your room or perhaps while enjoying a cocktail at the restaurant. With the pool being such a significant feature, it makes sense that the restaurant and the gym also have views of it. Whether you’re on the treadmill or enjoying your morning eggs it’s lovely to watch the sun glisten over the water.
Breakfast at Lanna Samui was a choice from an a la carte menu along with a continental buffet. Having something cooked fresh and being able to relax at your table while you wait beats that usual ‘rush rush rush’ situation buffets tend to bring out in people.
The interior of our room was a mixture of white and tan fixtures and fittings. It was immaculately presented and included a kitchenette, mini dining table, white leather lounge suite, air conditioning and an overhead fan. The bedroom nook created a separate room feel and added a perception of space.
Code Samui is elevated with stunning views of the ocean and Koh Phangan in the distance. I loved this hotel, everything about it just oozed luxury. Rooms offer floor to ceiling windows which leave you mesmerized looking out over the water.
White is the theme at Code and this opens up the rooms so well. They are spacious, fresh and modern. The creative room design enables you to relax and sleep in comfort. I liked how the TV could be spun around so you can watch it from the lounge or the bedroom. You will almost feel a bit silly watching it though when there’s the stunning view behind it. A cozy day bed is available on your balcony and it’s big enough so you’re protected from the elements. These rooms are similarly furnished to those at Lanna. Extra touches such as fresh flowers and your own personal mobile phone made this a real five star experience.
The pool at Code is positioned so that the view can still be enjoyed! A perfect place to read a book or do some laps. The tables are set up with call bells to the restaurant so you can easily get some lunch or a cocktail. Code’s gym includes top quality equipment, again it takes advantage of the beautiful views.
Service at both hotels was wonderful, true Thai hospitality. Every staff member took the time to acknowledge us if our paths crossed. Complimentary shuttles are offered at both hotels to different areas and attractions on the island. You can also easily organize taxis and airport/boat transfers directly with the properties.
I enjoyed a Thai massage at both hotels and they were amazing! Often Thai massages are a bit much for me but the therapists at Lanna and Code used more relaxation techniques whilst still applying the pressure to the muscles and giving me a good stretch.
I would (and will) highly recommend both of these hotels to any traveller planning a trip to Koh Samui. If you’re after relaxation, peace, good service and excellent quality accommodation then one of these hotels should be on your list!
Our stays at both Lanna and Code were hosted by the hotels. As always, the opinions are my own.
